For a better SEO, it is said that the URLs must give information about the content of the web page. Because of this most people uses pretty URLs in wordpress with the permalink options. But the post slug in the URL is generated from the title of the post, and some times this slug is too long because we don’t remove the stopwords, common words without an important meaning, that don’t add anything significant to the URL.

This plugin removes the stopwords from the URLs for better SEO optimization of your blog and for making better and smaller URLs. You can set the stopwords through the `Plugins’ menu in WordPress wp-admin.

For example:

• You have set the next stopwords: a, an, the, i, you, he, she, we, they, of
• You write a post called: Review of the Google Chrome Browser
• The normal post slug would be: review-of-the-google-chrome-browser
• But the optimized slug is: review-google-chrome-browser

How to install:
1. Upload `remove-stopwords-from-slug.php` to the `/wp-content/plugins/` directory
2. Activate the plugin through the `Plugins’ menu in WordPress wp-admin
3. Set the stopword through the `Options -> Slug Stopwords’ menu in WordPress wp-admin:

Para una mejor optimización SEO de una web se dice que la URL debe dar información sobre el contenido de la página que muestra. Por eso hoy en día casi todo el mundo utiliza URLs optimizadas gracias al sistema de permalinks de WordPress, que genera la URL a partir del título del post. Pero muchas veces se alarga demasiado la URL, algo que tampoco es bueno.

Este plugin acorta las URLs quitándoles stopwords, palabras que podemos considerar vacias ya que no aportan información sino que simplemente sirven como enlaces entre el resto de palabras. Estas stopwords suelen ser articulos, preposiciones,… aunque tu podrás decidir cuales quieres que sean desde el administrador. Así optimizamos la URL acortándola pero sin quitarle información relevante.

Por ejemplo:

• Has marcado las siguientes palabras como stopwords: yo, tu, el, nosotros, vosotros, el, la, los, las, a, ante, de, del
• Escribes un post titulado: El calor de los vientos del sur
• La URl del post hubiera sido: el-calor-de-los-vientos-del-sur
• Pero optimizado con el plugin se queda en: calor-vientos-sur

No hay que editar ningún archivo, todo se configura desde el administrador. Si quieres un listado de stopwords puedes usar este:

Instalación:
1. Subir el archivo `remove-stopwords-from-slug.php` al directorio `/wp-content/plugins/`
2. Activar el plugin mediante el administrador
3. Escribir las palabras que se deseen quitar de la URL en el administrador `Opciones -> Slug Stopwords’
4. ¡Eso es todo!
